Milk, an art collective based in Newcastle-upon-Tyne would like to present The Byker Gallery, a pop up not-for-profit arts space in the east end of Newcastle (Byker to be precise). Milk is a group of recent graduates proactively seeking to provide a free platform for recent graduate artists, curators and collaborators to engage with a wider audience in the form of exhibitions, events and residencies.
Milk is committed to providing opportunities and supporting the professional development of recently graduated artists, as well as the local artistic community. With the Start of The Byker Gallery Milk, intends to encourage community participation and dialogue with contemporary art within the North East. The Byker Gallery is opening on the 26th of November with its first one-week exhibition. The gallery will run for one month with four one-week exhibitions. During these exhibitions, Milk and an open call of artists will take up residency in the back portion of the gallery, and will be visible to the public.
